Manchester is a bustling, vibrant and diverse city in the North West of England. It is well known world wide for its sport, music and science. It is difficult to do its history justice in such a brief paragraph. We refer the interested reader to the wikipedia page for a general history.
The University of Manchester plays an important part in the life of the city. It is consistently rated in the top 50 Universities in the world, and top 10 in the UK.
Manchester is surrounded by a number of areas of outstanding natural beauty. To the East the pennine hills lead the interested walker over to Derbyshire and Yorkshire beyond. To the north is the wonder of the Lake District and Cumbria. To the south are the Cheshire plains and to the west is the coastline of North Wales. Whilst you are visiting the UK we would urge you to visit some of these wonderful places.
