https://phononics2023.org/conf/index.php/phononics/index <p>Phononics 2023, the 6th International Conference on Phononic Crystals/Metamaterials/Metasurfaces, Phonon Transport/Coupling and Topological Phononics will be held on the campus of the University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. The field of phononics is at a crossroad. After nearly 30 years of scientific and technical advances and the advent of (a) new fabrication and manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing, (b) revolutionary concepts such as topological acoustic and (c) broader range of potential applications from earthquake mitigation to medicine and information science, the field is ripe for making a leap in its technological and societal impact. Phononics 2023 will address the challenges and opportunities that promise transformative advancements in knowledge and performance of phononic structures and acoustic metamaterials. The conference will encourage exchange of innovative and forward-looking ideas as well as exchange of cutting edge methods and practices.</p><p>Phononics 2023 is the sixth conference dedicated to analysis and manipulation of phonons (vibrations in solids), connecting researchers interested in phononic crystals, acoustic/thermal metamaterials, metasurfaces, wave propagation in periodic structures, nano-scale phonon transport, and optomechanics and phonon coupling.</p><p>More specifically, the conference scientific focus will be on the following nine central themes underlying current research in the field of phononics:</p><p>1.         Phononic Crystals; Fundamentals, Design and Fabrication.</p><p>2.         Acoustic and Elastic Metamaterials; Fundamentals, Design and Fabrication</p><p>3.         Acoustic and Elastic Metasurfaces; Fundamentals, Design and Fabrication</p><p>4.         Temporally modulated Phononic Media</p><p>5.         Topological Acoustics and Phononics</p><p>6.         Nonlinear Phononics</p><p>7.         Thermal Phonons</p><p>8. <span style="white-space: pre;"> </span> Mathematical techniques underpinning phononics</p><p>9.         Applied Phononics</p><p>The conference will also endeavour to seek links from phononics to other related fields in an attempt to enhance the possibilities for collaboration.
